Is your website pulling its weight? If you have been wondering why you haven’t had any new leads coming in or sales. Well, it often comes down to the design and function of your website and one of these signs might be the reason.
If your website look and feels like it’s stuck in the past, changes are giving a wrong first impression to first-time visitors.
If it’s giving that impression, chances are that all you need is to update the aesthetics of the website and its functionality, my advice is to refresh your website’s design at least every 3-5 years just to keep up with the times and its technological advancements.
When someone visits your website, they expect an intuitive and streamlined experience on your website. So if your website feels too cluttered and flashy, (similar to those web banners that were popular in the late 90s or early 2000s) chances are we’ve all seen them at some point! If it does not look like it still feels cluttered because there is mismatching between each page/section of your website with different fonts, colours and messaging.
My advice is to have your website have clear navigation, no more than 5-6 links, and strategically placed call-to-actions. If you are not sure how to do that you can book a call with me to discuss it further.
Honestly, I have seen more than my fair share of websites that were not mobile friendly, those websites are leaving money on the table because in 2024, 60% of visitors will visit a website on their phone and if it is not mobile friendly, chances are they are moving on to another website that is mobile friendly to get what they are looking for.
Also, not only are people leaving your website also, Google favours websites that are responsive and can adapt to different screens. This means there is a higher chance that your website is not getting picked by Google.
When it comes to ease of use of your website, the first thing that is needed is to make sure that your website is easy to navigate so your visitors can easily find what they are looking for and are able to find the contact form when they need to contact you!
The reason I am saying this is because if it is not easy for someone to find the contact page or any other information that they are looking for chances are they will leave and feel very frustrated to the point that they will never want to come back to your website…. Trust me I know that from experience myself (which that a story for another time).
A high bounce rate for your website usually tells you that visitors aren’t interested in exploring the rest of your site. If your site’s bounce rate is 55% or higher, it is suggested that it is time to overhaul your website design or troubleshoot some issues that may be on your site. To find the bounce rate for your website, you can find it on your Google Analytics account.
A slow website can be one of the reasons that visitors leave your site within the first 3-4 seconds which translates to a higher bounce rate for your website. It can also hurt your brand further down the road even if you have spent some time improving your SEO.
Did you know that when you are regularly putting up a new blog post it helps your website to be in search, as a blog post has keywords that are relevant to your business and also helps with your website’s SEO.
If your SEO is lacking or simply not strong enough to help google index your website it can lead to a loss of website traffic and leads.
So how did your website do? If you realize that your site has one or more of these and know that your website needs some improvement, don’t be discouraged. If you are in the beginning of your business, I recommend that you start with a template where they will have what you need to get started and help you out. But if you are an established business and have been seeing a decrease in your website traffic and are not sure why (or maybe you do) you can book your free consultation call and we can talk through it all!
